Portugal's center-right Democratic Alliance claimed victory in the vote, winning 79 seats in the country's 230-seat National Assembly — well short of a parliamentary majority. The incumbent center-left Socialist Party followed closely behind with 77 seats. The result — which saw the parliamentary representation of the Chega party quadruple to at least 48 lawmakers — gives the political right a combined majority.

The Democratic Alliance coalition won 29.5% of the 98.98% of votes counted early Monday, with the incumbent Socialist Party on 28.7%. The results are not final – but Socialist Party leader Pedro Nuno Santos has already conceded. Chega won 18%, a breakthrough for the radical right party and its leader, André Ventura, a former trainee priest and football pundit. For decades the Socialist Party and center-right Social Democratic Party – the main party in the Democratic Alliance – have taken turns in power. LISBON, May 2 (Reuters) - Portugal's infrastructure minister submitted his resignation on Tuesday as a scandal around state-owned airline TAP widened, just four months after his predecessor resigned over the same issue, but the prime minister said he would keep him in the job. Galamba's predecessor, Pedro Nuno Santos, resigned in December in the wake of a scandal involving an irregular severance payment to a former executive board member of TAP. Ourmières-Widener has since been fired after an official inspection found that the severance was illegal. On Sunday, Costa said that neither he nor any member of the government had given orders to SIS to recover the laptop. Reforma, cunoscută sub denumirea „Cer unic european” include mai multe iniţiative precum extinderea rolului autorităţii de reglementare Eurocontrol în coordonarea şi optimizarea fluxurilor de trafic aerian. Acordul convenit joi permite preşedinţiei portugheze a Consiliului European să demareze discuţii cu Parlamentul European cu privire la textul final. Comisia a lansat în 1999 iniţiativa Cerul unic european pentru a îmbunătăţi performanţa managementului traficului aerian şi a serviciilor de navigaţie aeriană printr-o mai bună integrare a spaţiului aerian european. Ultima iniţiativă legislativă majoră din cadrul SES, şi anume SES 2, a fost încheiată în 2009. Actuala propunere modificată datând din septembrie 2020 vine ca urmare a unei actualizări intermediare a normelor SES, denumită SES 2+, care a fost propusă de Comisie în 2013, dar nu a fost niciodată finalizată pentru că Marea Britanie şi Spania nu au ajuns la un acord cu privire la aeroportul din Gibraltar.
